Cebu Pacific is deferring plans to fly to Honolulu and the US mainland to focus on the growing domestic and regional demand.
“We have no immediate plans to fly to the US mainland at this point. We were exploring it, but there’s no active plan,” Cebu Air Inc. president and chief executive Lance Gokongwei said.
“We’d rather focus our resources on meeting the demand, existing demand for regional and domestic flights,” he said.
Cebu Pacific vice president for corporate communications JR Mantaring said in July the airline was likely to fly to Honolulu next year in time for the delivery of new aircraft.
“If you want to do a direct flight, it requires new aircraft to do US mainland. Hawaii, we could probably do with our existing Airbus 330 but we have no current plans to do so,” Gokongwei said.
