One of broadcasts industry’s longest running programs DZRH Radio Balintataw produced and hosted by Ramon Magsaysay awardee and PETA founder Cecile Guidote Alvarez bags two Golden Dove trophies in the 26th awards ceremony of the Kapisanan ng mga Broadcasters sa Pilipinas (KBP).
The segment “Obra ni Juan” by Vince Tanada, founder of the leading and prestigious theater group Philstagers won Best in Culture and Arts Program while “Tabak at Sampaguita” segment that features 31 selected poems of Joe Lad Santos with classic songs won Best Variety Radio program. Radio DZRH won 7 more awards for a total of 9 in the 26th annual selection held at Marriot Hotel.
In her speech, Mrs. Alvarez, who is also the director of Unesco Earthsavers Artists for Peace lauded the KBP for the encouragement and inspiration as symbolize by the Golden Dove trophy. “The awards sustain our mission in bringing to the nation creative arts educational program through broadcasts,” Mrs. Alvarez added
PSF’s Obra ni Juan tackles the life, works and the deep secret of the controversial Philippine hero Juan Luna. It also showcase Juan Luna’s relationship with various historial figures such as Marcelo Del Pilar and Trinidad Pardo de Tavera with special emphasis in his unique friendship with Dr. Jose Rizal and beloved Antonio Luna.
Meanwhile, the poems of poet-novelist Joe Lad Santos in the segment “Tabak at Sampaguita” were Kamatayan ng Munting Bayakan sa Aking Palad, Huwag Mo Akong Mahalin, Ang Magsasaka, Ina, Sa Dibdib ng Marawi, Sapagkat ang Koran ay ang Aking Puso, Ang Mangingisda, Komedya ng mga Langaw, Araro, Ang Pasko, Dugo sa Aking Lupa, Sonata kay Chidwai and several other more.
