The Food Development Center (FDC) of the National Food Authority (NFA) is set to conduct a training course on the “Basic Sensory Evaluation for Food Testing and Product Development” on April 17-20, 2018 from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm at the FDC Compound, Food Terminal Inc. (FTI) Complex, Taguig City.
FDC developed this training course to upgrade the capability of quality assurance and development of personnel of the food industry to use sensory evaluation in food testing and product development.
The course will last for four (4) days and consists of five (5) lectures for 7.5 hours and seven (7) practical exercises for 16.75 hours. The lectures will provide discussions on the physiological basis of sensory evaluation as well as its requirements and procedures, common types of methods, evaluation of results and sampling techniques.
Practical exercises will involve actual hands-on preparation and sensory evaluation of food using selected test methods to food testing and product development. The case problem will involve the preparation of a design for the conduct of sensory evaluation test.
The course fee is P 11,500.00 per participant inclusive of a training manual, lunches and snacks. Interested participants are encouraged to make their reservations early through payment of the required fee on or before April 6, 2018. A maximum of twenty four (24) participants will be accommodated to this course.
Participants may opt to stay at the FDC dormitory with air-conditioned rooms that can accommodate two persons per room. Adjoining rooms share a toilet and bath with hot shower. Room charge is P790.00 per room per day for double occupancy and P600.00 per room per day for single occupancy.
