SM Foundation treats Dualtech scholars to ‘Transformers’ screening

The SM Foundation Inc.’s Dualtech technical/vocational scholars were treated recently by their benefactors to watch the latest Transformers movie in 3D IMAX at the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City. It was a happy occasion for the scholars who expressed their thanks to Henry Sy Sr.

SM Investments Corp. Assistant Vice President and Lead Coordinator for the Scholarship Program Eleanor Lansang said that, while walking out of the cinema, she asked the scholars if they enjoyed watching the movie.

Ma’am, salamat po. Pakisabi po kay Henry Sy, maraming salamat (Ma’am, thank you. Please tell Mr. Henry Sy Sr., thank you very much),” she quoted one scholar as saying.

The tech/voc scholars from Metro Manila and other provinces, now numbering 100, are now in their second year of schooling at the Dualtech Training Center in Laguna province. They are among the 1,000 tech/voc scholars being supported by the SM Foundation in partner-training centers in the country.

The SM Foundation’s Tech/Voc scholarship aims to provide out-of-school youth or those who intend to pursue a two-year technical-vocational course the opportunity to harness their skills in areas that are in demand. SM tech/voc scholars pursue training as food-and-beverage worker, automobile mechanic, fitter machinist, electromechanical technician, refrigeration and air-conditioning repair, small arc welding, and electromechanics.
