Leading compact car manufacturer Suzuki Philippines posted a record-breaking 37-percent year-on-year (YoY) growth for 2016 as it wrapped up a fruitful year marked by timely product launches and new dealership inaugurations, among others.
From teasers of the all-new sedan Ciaz to the first media and bankers’ test drive that showcased the subcompact sedan’s road-handling excellence, Suzuki was able to connect to a greater audience last year, thanks to strengthened marketing efforts.
Aside from its product portfolio additions—which include the Euro 4-compliant Super Carry—Suzuki mounted the cross-country Auto Festival, held test-drive activities, and participated in last year’s Philippine International Motor Show, where Suzuki’s line-up of best-selling vehicles were displayed to better reach car users.
Through its claim as the title sponsor of last year’s AFF Suzuki Cup, Suzuki was able to showcase its beloved brands, led by the AFF-dressed Swift and the Ciaz and Ertiga.
The year also saw a number of dealership launches in line with the company’s efforts to show the Suzuki way of life and offer greater product and service accessibility to more Filipinos.
These new dealerships include Suzuki Auto South Cebu, Suzuki Auto Pulilan, Suzuki Malolos Satellite, Suzuki Auto Gensan, Suzuki Auto Quezon Avenue Satellite, Suzuki Auto Sta.Rosa, Suzuki Auto Biñan, Suzuki Auto Baguio, Suzuki Auto Davao, Suzuki Auto SM Gen San Satellite, and Suzuki Auto Batangas.
Product launches, accolades
Last year, Suzuki added two award-winning vehicles to its growing family: the elegant and sporty subcompact sedan Ciaz, which was honored as the Best Value for Money vehicle in the Compact Sedan segment at the 2016 Auto Focus Media’s Choice Awards and the Best Subcompact Car at the 2016 CAGI Car of the Year Awards; and the utility commercial vehicle (UCV) Super Carry, which earned the Best Utility Commercial Vehicle prize at the 2016 CAGI Car of the Year Awards.
The Ciaz boasts of best-in-class fuel efficiency, advanced features, stylish exteriors, redefined interiors, and exceptional performance, as demonstrated in test-drive activities last year.
As for the Super Carry, it offers exceptional strength, quality performance, superior loading capacity, and a Euro-4 compliant Diesel engine that are designed to enhance the operations of businesses, particularly small-and medium-scale ones, and help address recurring problems, such as heavy traffic, increasing fuel costs, uneven road conditions, and worsening pollution.
Top sales drivers
Aside from the Ciaz and Super Carry, other Suzuki cars contributed to the company’s overall sales growth.
The Celerio emerged as the company’s largest 2016 sales driver, with a 149-percent YoY sales growth. The Ertiga, Jimny, Swift, and Alto 800 followed as the next leading sales drivers, with each having maintained double-digit YoY growth.
The seven-seater Ertiga also bagged the MPV Best Value for Money prize at the 2016 Auto Focus Media’s Choice Awards.
Bigger plans for Philippine market
Inspired by the positive customer feedback and nonstop sales growth, Suzuki is all set to surpass its 2016 performance with its amplified and sustained efforts in product-value enhancement and brand-building.
The company is expected to open more dealerships in 2017 as part of its resolve to further strengthen its presence in the country’s most developed cities.
“The automotive industry was intensely competitive last year, but we have managed to stay on top of the game. Our relentless efforts to truly understand and address market needs have made 2016 a successful and abundant year for Suzuki,” Suzuki Philippines General Manager for Automobile Shuzo Hoshikura.
“With this, on behalf of Suzuki Philippines, I would like to extend our gratitude to our clients, whose unwavering support translated to Suzuki’s massive sales influx in 2016. As we prepare for the coming months, we shall continue to prove that we are deserving of our clients’ trust through our great-value products and services,” he added.
