Representative Alan Uno Ecleo said experts from the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) started to inspect potential sites in the province for the construction of first Dinagat Island airport.
Ecleo said the experts made the ocular inspection last month as part of the technical study in conjunction with House Bill 3799, which establishes an airport in the district
Ecleo said that an airport will boost tourism and will help in the development of the province.
Earlier, President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. commented that the province is quite isolated and needs an airport.
Ecleo said the airport will bring in tourists, both local and international, to visit the province and experience its untapped potential.
“People will enjoy our pristine natural landscapes which can compete with destinations like Siargao, Palawan, and Boracay,” he explained.
Meanwhile, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration is currently studying the construction of the airport, which is another requirement under the bill.
