CCP President Michelle Nikki Junia reports to the Filipino people the rehabilitation phase of the Cultural Center of the Philippines

As the Ad Interim President of the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP), Michelle Nikki Junia reported to the Filipino people the current stage of the rehabilitation of the Main Building of the Center at the Institutional Press Conference organized by the Corporate Communications Division held at the newly built huge Bahay Kubo-inspired pavilion at the newly installed Liwasang KaLIKHAsan at the CCP grounds in Pasay City Thursday noon.

According to Michelle Nikki, the repaur of the 55-year old edifice is quite meticulous.

“You see, the building is a landmark already,” said Junia in an interview.

“We have to be careful of its rehabilitation,” she added.

“As we all know, CCP is a work of our National Artist Leandro V. Locsin. We can’t just overhaul the whole building. It has been a delicate balancing act of preserving the design and modernizing the building to keep up with the time,” said Michelle Nikki as spoken during her speech and written by the CCP Publicity Department with Glaiza Lee, Raul Asis and the rest of the young writing minds of their subordinate publicists.

The auditing of the building started in 2018 until 2019.

Its findings were the “apparent wear and tear” condition of the building because of “old age.”

In the course of the building’s strength of materials, the audited findings revealed that the deterioration is “much worse beneath the surface.”

But the foundation of the edifice has ramained strong.

From the audited reports, all requirements were itemized and prepared.

According to Junia, the repair started in January 2023 and year after of the same month, “thirty percent of the restructuring is done on January 2024.”

By the end of 2025, the whole project will be completed.

“We will reopen in 2026,” announced Michelle Nikki.

Junia said that new artistic and cultural productions will be staged in various venuez of the Center once entire building is refurbished.
