Limbaga 77 Celebrates 10th year, lines up new dishes, desserts

Has it really been 10 years? Where did all those days, weeks, and months go?

Time truly flew so fast we could now hardly remember what went on in-between opening day of Limbaga 77 in 2014 and the here and now. How many lunches and dinners have we hosted here, how many events have we covered, how many meetings have we had in this place, this restaurant, fashioned after an old house that has been rendered new life by a team of like-minded friends led by businessman and movie producer, Rex A. Tiri.

Limbaga 77, now considered a landmark in Quezon City’s Scout Area, gathered friends and business associates December 18 to celebrate its 10th anniversary. With stirring jazz and Christmas music provided by a string quartet in the background, guests enjoyed themselves with lavish servings of conversations and laughter, and… here goes the evening’s menu… specialties old and new of the house.

Starters and Sides: Stuffed Bulaklak ng Kalabasa, Mini Tacos Lechon, Limbaga 77 Salad.

Entrees: Sinigang na Salmon, Seafood Pancit Buko, Chicken Morcon, Crispy Pata, Kare-Karee, Limbaga 77 Stuffed Laing, Paella.

Desserts: Ube-Leche Flan Cake, Sagada Mocha Cake, Quezo de Bola Cheesecake.

Beverages: Grass Citrus Iced Tea.

To many, Limbaga 77 is the home of sweet memories, of good food and family affairs, friendship and work combined. We remember the 2-storey house for reunions among families and friends, afternoon dates and cozy chats, and other special celebrations.

As for my favorites on its menu, easy picks are Stuffed Laing, Kare-Kare, Steamed Pompano, Pancit Bihon, and so many other dishes. I am in awe of its new dishes, the likes of Chicken Morcon, which is a reworking of Chicken a la King, the Sagada Mocha Cake, and Quezo de Bola Cheesecake.

Many items on the menu are creative takes on traditional Filipino dishes such as Adobong Tadyang ng Baka. Even then, the restaurant’s menu is a showcase of both modern and traditional, which suits diners of all ages and persuasions.

Limbaga 77 has its own bakery that makes all those yummy cakes, pastries, and other desserts. It now also has bottled cookies that come in different flavors.
