UST Artlets ’75 collabs with Miriam College arts and design prof on Filipino innovative spirit

How innovative Filipinos are especially in trying times and in the most convenient atmosphere of freedom and broadmindedness?

Limitless flow of ideas in any situation is how we measure our creativity and innovativeness to bring out the best in each of us.

How about established institutions?

How do they gauge and evaluate the Filipino innovation spirit through policies in various fields to advance society and its people?

As is, art and innovation are also intertwined in the growth and development of the human person whether institutionalized or individualized manner?

Just like what visual artist, communicator, polymath and teacher Bon Labora recently initiated in the realm of digital design and the constructive functions of the human mind.

Prof. Labora of the Miriam College Department of Arts and Design has collaborated with the National Innovation Council (NIC) through one of its members, Dr. Ria Liza Centeno Canlas, to discuss the Filipino vision of creating, maintaining and preserving policies to advance the country’s innovative ideas for nation-building from the government standpoint.

In a symposium billed as “Unboxing the Filipinnovation Mindset,” Dr. Canlas will expound on the role of the NIC and the public in a mutual performance in the application of “new and improved policies, products, processes or services which are spread and transferred across the market” as mandated.

From the academic experience, one of the means to achieve a dynamic and integral role of digital design in innovation is to allow the students to bank on their own creativity and innovativeness to partner with public or private institutions in solving social problems.

According to Bon, he has collaborated with the UST Artlets ’71, Emdex, Quezon City Photo Club, Agimat, Imbentor, Agos Media, among others to enhance the talk of Dr. Canlas on May 25, 2024 at 3 pm at the Coco Bistro at the Quezon City Memorial Circle in Diliman, Quezon City.

Aside from the symposium, there will also be a UI/UX Exhibit of student artistic digital inventions which extends until May 31, 2024 and discourses from entertainment journalist, filmmaker and book author Boy Villasanta and Lia Seelin of Greenlink.

There will also be a jam session in the early evening led by the ethereal voice of Nicole Abuda.
