Beauties to be relevant in these times of turmoil and catastrophe, they must immerse with the common people and identify with them.
Angelia Ong, 2015 Miss Earth Philippines and 2015 Miss Earth does just that.
Aside from espousing for the prevention and mitigation of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) which causes the deadly Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) and the promotion of youth development and the care for the Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), Angelia is also a promoter of anti-dengue campaign, latest of which was when she hosted the launch of Natular DT, a dengue mosquito killer by UPL. “I care for our people who are victims of dengue.
The rise in the cases of this disease is alarming so we need to be cautious and fight the dengue causing mosquito. As Miss Earth, I preserve the environment and help eliminate causes of diseases in the surroundings,” said Angelia.
Even if Ong has reigned past her period, she is still very much active in the social and entertainment scene as host. She recently hosted “Musikaisa,” a fundraiser for the uplift of the misguided youth and the disabled persons.
It was an advocacy hosting just like the anti-dengue drive program.
Meanwhile, her advocacy of telling the truth as it is, artist and activist Lady Ann Salem was arrested together with other militants ironically during the celebration of International Human Rights Day recently. Salem was charged with illegal possession of firearms.

Lady Ann is also a journalist and a documentary filmmaker. She is a film director and a storyteller. She has been very active in documenting the plight of poor people in desolate urban areas.
Salem is a graduate of Mass Communication from the University of the Philippines College of Mass Communication (UPCMC). According to her professor, progressive writer and mentor Roland Tolentino, also an active member of the prestigious Manunuri ng Pelikulang Pilipino (MPP), Lady Ann, also known as Icy, was a contemporary of TV news anchor and public affairs show host Atom Araullo at the UP. They were both student leaders in their academic life.
