The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and the Makati City government inaugurated three Adopt-A-Park project sites – EDSA-Buendia Park, EDSA-Pinagkaisahan Park and Magallanes Interchange Phase A – Mini Park – which have a combined lot area of 3,000 square meters.
The parks were designed by the city’s Department of Environmental Services.
MMDA chairman Romando Artes, deputy chairman Undersecretary Frisco San Juan Jr. and Makati administrator Claro Certeza led the inauguration and turnover of the parks.
Artes said improvement of the facilities serves as an avenue for social interactions and family gatherings to be enjoyed by the residents living in Makati.
Artes said they are constantly coordinating with the local government for future projects.
Certeza, meanwhile, thanked MMDA for providing open spaces in the city.
The three parks, which were turned over to the local government, have landscaping designs and hardscape features such as concrete floor paving and benches.
Conceptualized in 2021, the Adopt-A-Park project aims to develop under-utilized parks in each of the Metro Manila local government units by improving their usability and transforming them into functional green parks.
The project was conceived by former MMDA chairman and now Department of the Interior and Local Government Secretary Benjamin Abalos, Jr.
