Lopez, Quezon—Kins, friends, retirees, well-wishers, townsfolk and guests were stunned by the singing styles and contents of Amazing Diva Armie Zuniga when she paid her musical tribute during the observance of the first death anniversary of a dear pal, Lily V. Arriero, in this town last week.
Armie opened her homage to Lily, who died last year, by singing David Forster’s original composition, “The Prayer” before everyone partook on the food spread on the dining table.
Zuniga continued her vocal performances of oldies but goodies songs like “Summer Love,” “Crazy,” “End of the World,” “Smoke Gets in Your Eyes” and other defining songs of the 50s and 60s during the prime of lady Lily to the delight of the audience while having dinner.
Armie also belted tunes of the divas like Barbra Streisand’s “Memory,” “Tell Him,” “Some Good Things Never Last” etc., Diana Ross’ “Touch Me in the Morning,” “When You Tell Me that You Love Me” etc., Zsa Zsa Padilla’ “Hiram,” Didith Reyes’ “Bakit Ako Mahihiya?”, Britney Spears’ “Toxic,” “…Baby One More Time” etc. Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance,” “Poker Face” etc. and a lot more popular hits.
Armie has known Lily (this writer’s late sister) for decades and she still feels sad about her passing.
”Hindi po makakalimutan ang kabaitan ni Ate (I will always remember the kindness of my elder sister by affinity) Lily,” lamented Armie who came all the way from the neighboring Calauag, her hometown.
Ate Lily died of an aortic aneurysm on January 7, 2025.
May she now rest in peace. (Boy Villasanta)
