DOTC invites bidders for LRT Line 6

The Department of Transportation and Communications (DoTC) is inviting interested local and international groups to participate in the bidding of the P65.09 billion Light Rail Transit (LRT) Line 6 project under the Philippine Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Program.

The LRT 6 project is the proposed 19 kilometer railway from Niyog, Bacoor to Dasmariñas City. It will be connected to the DOTC’s existing LRT-1 Cavite extension project.

Seven stations are proposed for the railway along the Aguinaldo Highway which includes Niyog; Tirona; Imus; Daang Hari; Salitran; Congressional Avenue; and Governor’s Drive.

The project will improve passenger mobility and reduce the volume of vehicular traffic in the Cavite area by providing a higher capacity mass transit system. It also aims to spur economic development along the extension corridor.

Under a 30-year concession agreement, the private partner will finance, design, construct, operate and maintain, and procure the rolling stock for the LRT system.

Bid documents will be made available to interested companies starting December 28 until March 4, 2016 for a fee of P1 million.

The project will be procured following a competitive two-stage public bidding process in accordance with R.A. 6957 as amended by R.A.7718 or the Philippine BOT Law and its Implementing Rules and Regulations.
