The Department of Transportation (DOTr) will construct three new EDSA Busway stations this year to improve efficiency and accessibility on Metro Manila’s most efficient road transport project.
The new stations will be located in Cubao, Magallanes and the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX).
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. earlier directed DOTr to improve the busway’s time and motion to encourage more commuters to use public transport over private vehicles.
DOTr Road Infrastructure Undersecretary Mark Steven Pastor said the contract for the new busway has been awarded, with construction scheduled to begin first quarter of 2026, for completion by fourth quarter this year.
“We will have 3 new stations on the EDSA Busway. We want to strengthen and speed up our time and motion here on EDSA when we travel via public transportation,” Pastor said.
The busway modernization also includes the opening of the new Kamuning Station which is being equipped with elevators and escalators to assist persons with disabilities, senior citizens and pregnant women.
Pastor added that the Kamuning station will have a new footbridge separate from the MRT-3 station to ensure smoother transfers for bus passengers.
The project remains a central part of government’s transport infrastructure priority list to decongest the 23.8-kilometer main highway of Metro Manila.
