Rising young singer Kyle Molina, 16, has just clinched the honor and privilege of recording what is said to be the first alternative pop composition of the seasoned and award-winning hitmaker Vehnee Saturno.
The song is simply titled “Ako” and its singer is the actor-looking very boyish senior high student of De La Salle-Benilde College.
Kyle has been beaming with pride since “Sir Vehnee” launched the single “Ako” in his (Vehnees) own Facebook account. Vehnee, after all is the single’s producer through a recording company known simply as Vehnee Saturno Music.
Enthuses the rising singer Kyle: “I am aware that Sir Vehnee is known for soaring ballads such as Martin Nievera’s ‘Be My Lady’ and bouncy girl-songs “Kaba’ and ‘Mr. Kupido,’ and the sexy “Bakit Pa’ of Jessa Zaragoza. He has decided to go into a song that is close to alternative pop to win over the Gen Z’s and chose me be his launcher. Sobrang saya ko po (I’m extremely happy!).”
The song’s melody is easy to catch and to sing along with. But more so, its lyrics which begins: “Huwag ka sanang magalit sa aking pangungulit…”
It’s a song everyone can sing.
Kyle’s singing is mostly heartfelt even as in some lines he sounds tongue-in-cheek.There are lines that sound like affirmations now popular among Gen Zs.
“Ako” is, as the Gen Zs typically say it, is “sobrang” proof that Vehnee’s renowned music-making brilliance includes versatility. Kyle Molina’s “Ako” is the manifestation of that masterful versatility. (Audie See)
