PRE-VALENTINE CONCERT TO SUPPORT INDIGENT PREGNANT MOTHERS
In a joint effort to address child malnutrition and maternal health, the Knights of Rizal and the Children’s First 1000 Days Coalition (CFDC), in partnership with The Manila Hotel, announced “Alay sa Mag-Nanay” Pre-Valentine Dinner Benefit Concert, to be held on Saturday, 7 February 2026, at 6:00 PM at the Tent City, The Manila Hotel.
The announcement was made during Kapihan sa Manila Hotel, a long-standing media forum hosted by former senator Joey Lina, President of The Manila Hotel, with special guests Knights of Rizal Executive Director Isagani Lisaca, and concert performers The Rainmakers and Allison Gonzales.
The benefit concert supports the City of Manila’s programs addressing malnutrition during the first 1,000 days of life, from pregnancy to a child’s second birthday—a period critical to lifelong health and development. Malnutrition during this stage leads to irreversible outcomes, including higher infant mortality, stunting, impaired cognitive development, and reduced productivity later in life.
According to UNICEF, an estimated 95 Filipino children under five die each day due to malnutrition, underscoring the need for sustained, coordinated action.
The Knights of Rizal, chartered under Republic Act No. 646, is a member organization of CFDC—a nationwide alliance of over 200 civil society organizations supporting the implementation of Republic Act No. 11148, or the First 1,000 Days Act, which mandates a whole-of-government and whole-of-society approach to maternal and child nutrition.
Proceeds from Alay sa Mag-Nanay will benefit indigent pregnant mothers in Manila, identified in coordination with Barangay Health Workers and Barangay Nutrition Scholars.
Directed by Joel Macanaya, the concert will feature The Rainmakers, Aicelle Santos, Gerphil Flores, Allison Gonzales, and GibzonVillajuan, with special participation by the HOPE Children’s Choir and guest Joey Lina.
