The National Housing Authority (NHA) has started the construction of a 754-unit row-housing project in Guindaponan village, Culaba town, Biliran province.
Emmanuel Alisbo, project engineer of Phintecstar Construction, Inc., a Manila-based contractor, said 522 units of the project are to be completed in 285 days, while the remaining 232 units are set to be completed in the next 195 days.
Construction of the units has been ongoing for the past two weeks. Works were concentrated on land preparation. The entire housing project covers 48,080 square meters of land.
The beneficiaries of the housing project are those residing in coastal areas of the town, which have been identified as among of the disaster-prone areas there.
The beneficiaries will pay for the houses awarded to them after their fifth year of occupancy in the amount of P200 per month for 30 years.
Another housing project is set for implementation in Binongtoan village in Culaba under the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), said Ray-Jay Emboltorio, information officer-designate of the Culaba local government unit (LGU).
The DSWD-initiated project covers 5,000 sq. m. for 35 houses. Each unit is awarded to the beneficiaries for free, since the Culaba LGU will shoulder the needed counterpart amount for the project.
The beneficiaries of this project are those living in disaster-prone areas of the municipality.
Culaba is a fifth-class municipality with a population of 12,325.
