The Philippine National Police (PNP) is launching a full investigation into the creation and circulation of a fake medical bulletin targeting President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
The PNP’s Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG) has been assigned to lead the probe and coordinate with other agencies to hold those responsible accountable.
“I have already tasked the PNP-ACG to help in the conduct of investigation aimed at identifying those responsible for this,” PNP Chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said in a statement.
He condemned the posting of the fake bulletin online, calling it “disrespectful, insensitive and gross violation of the law.”
While acknowledging the political climate and everyone’s right to free expression, Nartatez stressed that fabricating and sharing false documents targeting anyone is “malicious and unlawful.”
“This must be looked into because it is clearly aimed at misleading the public,” he added, urging citizens to exercise responsibility when using social media.
President Marcos was scheduled to attend the PNP Day 2026 celebration at Camp Crame on Thursday but was represented by Executive Secretary Ralph Recto, who reassured the public that the President remains in good health while under observation for diverticulitis.
“Maayos naman ang Presidente… Maraming trabaho ngayon ‘yun especially sa paperwork, maraming kailangan pirmahan, basahin. Ang sabi ng kanyang mga doctor magpahinga ng isang linggo,” Recto told reporters, noting that the President temporarily followed a soft diet and is recovering well.
