The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) recorded 6,095,624 passengers passing through different seaports nationwide during the recent holiday travel rush.
PPA reported the number of travelers peaked from Dec. 15, 2025 to Jan. 5, 2026.
Top five ports with heaviest influx of passengers are in Panay (Guimaras), Batangas, Mindoro, Bohol and Negros Oriental (Siquijor).
Christmas and New Year travel brought the most passenger movement, complemented by arrival of OFWs and balikbayans, as well as increased domestic tourism, resulting in steady activity across both major and secondary ports nationwide.
To ensure smooth operations and safe travel, PPA and the Philippine Coast Guard put in place various safety and security measures, especially in high-traffic areas, strengthened security screening, and continuously monitored terminal operations.
