Recto, Pangilinan discuss sugar industry policies

Executive Secretary Ralph G. Recto met with Sen. Francis Pangilinan at Malacañang Palace last week to discuss policy measures aimed at addressing pressing concerns in the sugar industry.

The Office of the Executive Secretary (OES) said the meeting reflects the Marcos administration’s commitment to crafting coordinated and responsive interventions for the sector, which continues to face challenges in production, pricing, and supply.

During the discussion, Pangilinan highlighted urgent issues affecting sugar farmers, mill workers, and consumers, and presented key policy recommendations to help stabilize the industry, the OES said in a statement Thursday.

Recto assured that the concerns raised would be reviewed and forwarded to the appropriate government offices for policy consideration.

He also stressed the importance of close coordination between the executive and legislative branches to ensure effective implementation of solutions.

“There is also a need to sustain dialogue with farmers, millers, and other stakeholders to craft inclusive and practical solutions that would strengthen the sugar industry,” Recto said.
