Vivo launches ‘perfect’ V5 smartphone in Philippine market

Global smartphone brand Vivo unveiled in the Philippine market recently the V5 smartphone, which has the world’s first 20 megapixel (MP) softlight camera that allows users to take selfies to the “perfect” level.

Launched in Manila on November 23, the Vivo V5 smartphone boasts of “Perfect Selfie” capabilities, a sleek appearance, high performance, and other high-tech features.

”There’s no other brand that currently offers a 20MP front camera,” Vivo Philippines Vice President Hazel Bascon said.

Thanks to Vivo’s partnership with Sony, the V5 was equipped with the 20MP front-facing camera that features Sony’s IMX378 camera sensor, coupled with a lens system and an f/2 aperture.

The Vivo team said this camera can take perfect selfies, even when the subject is in dim light, as the camera is equipped with a softlight flash.

V5’s rear camera, on the other hand, has 13MP, and has a sensor capable of performing autofocus and blurring functions.

To further boost one’s selfie experience, the V5 also has the Face Beauty 6.0 app.

Bascon said Vivo is now focused on camera and music, since these are the top two features that most customers look for in a mobile phone.

Elegance and high-tech features

The Vivo V5 comes in an all-metal unibody shell back case that’s available in two colors: champagne gold and rose gold.

It features a 5.5-inch, 1280×720, high-definition display reinforced by 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass for protection.

The phone runs on Android’s 6.0 Marshmallow operating system, and is equipped with an octacore processor that runs at 1.5 GHz and paired with 4 gigabytes of RAM (random access memory) and 32 GB of internal storage (expandable via micro SD up to 128 GM).

As music is another thing that Vivo focuses on, it equipped the V5 with a 32-bit AK4376 digital-to-analog converter Hi-Fi chip. Vivo said Hi-Fi music makes the listener feel as if he or she is close to the performer or singer.

‘Faster than faster’ features

Using the front-facing fingerprint scanner, users can unlock the V5 in 0.2 seconds.

Furthermore, it has fast-charging technology that quickly top-up its 3000 mAH buil-in battery.

Like other Vivo phones, the V5 is also capable of split-screen features, which enables one to multitask.

To protect the customers’ eyesight, the Vivo V5 has an Eye Protection Mode that filters blue light from the screen.

The Vivo V5 can now be bought for P12,990. PNA
