Balonso, Zepeda share limelight in One Piece PH Run

MORE than 8,000 runners turned the streets around SM Fairview. into a sea of straw hats, pirate flags, and anime-inspired energy during the first-ever One Piece Philippines Run held early Sunday morning.

Organized as part of the celebration of the long-running anime series One Piece, the fun run brought together running and fitness enthusiasts, cosplayers and fans from across Metro Manila and nearby provinces.

In the men’s 10K, John Christian Balonso took top honors with a time of 39 minutes and 28 seconds.

John Paul Enriquez finished second with a time of 41:39, while Cedric Joshua Parcellano wound up third with 43:13

Maria Rosy Zepeda claimed first place in the women’s category with a time of 50:04, ahead of Marjorie Braza (51:52) and Jyra Lahay Lahay (58:27).

Mark Angelo Biagtan topped the men’s 5K race with an impressive time of 17:49 , followed by Joruss Delgado (18:24) and Joeross Simangan (18:57).

In the women’s 5K, Jo Punay came out on top with a time of 22:42, followed by Jamie Del Rosario (27:45) and Hannah Dacanay (27:50)

Cavin Vidal ruled the men’s 3K division with a time of 10:53, defeating Zed Icarus Balanday (12:51) and Lyndon Gatasi (13:02).

In the women’s 3K, Rochelle Niña Pingol finished first with 18:35, edging out Asti Nasayao (18:43) and Rachel Anne Balverde (18:50

In the boys’ 1K run, Joseph Fontamillas took top honors with a time of 5:12.

Arjay Delacruz (5:17) and Ernie Estoque (6:46) came in second and third, respectively

Ayra Jerica Acosta led the girls’ 1K with a finish of 7:05, followed by Francesca Dominique Apolinario (7:09) and Tiara Jerisse Medina (7:17).

Multiple race categories including 1K, 3K, 5K, and 10K were held, allowing participants of all ages and fitness levels to join in the festivities.

The event concluded with a short program featuring cosplay contests, and raffle prizes. Special awards were also handed out to top finishers and the most creative costumes.

Security, traffic management, and medical teams were in place to ensure the smooth flow of the event.

The event was organized by RunRio Inc., in partnership with Toei Animation and SM Supermalls, bringing together anime culture and fitness in a one-of-a-kind running experience.
