Sometimes the sleek disinformation has numbed many of us, believing that Bongbong-Sara are leading surveys, that this and that have endorsed them, that their proclamation rally had the biggest attendance.
But did anyone see that video at the Philippine Arena after the proclamation rally? Red and green shirted supporters were having skirmishes at the long lines for large boxes containing what could be rewards for their attendance. An elderly grandmother was still gasping for air but happily wearing a smile after she got her box of goodies. How will she bring that home?
Many men/women on the street, when interviewed randomly by news reporters, confess they still have no preference. So, it’s fake news to say majority will vote for BBM-Sara.
What pro-Leni supporters should anticipate is another election protest and recount because they believed in the fake news they peddled.
It’s clear money is making the rounds. Not just to gather the numbers at every rally – many motorcycle riders confessed they were paid to follow the BBM-Sara caravan wherever it went – but suspiciously also at how Comelec decided to trash the BBM disqualification case.
Will the Marcos billions sway the votes come counting time?
Foreign observers – led by former Singapore Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew – are astounded at how Filipinos allowed the Marcoses to return to power after the horrendous record of atrocities during Martial Law and now a Marcos is about to become president because Filipinos actually voted for him. Short of calling us all stupid.
He did not pay his taxes for four years while he was governor. He faked his college degrees (just like Ferdinand Sr. faked his World War II medals arising from fake military exploits). He has no solid accomplishments. He has been pampered and privileged all his life. He chooses his interviews only from friendly interviewers – indicating his aversion to face head on national problems that will require critical thinking.
Despite these facts, many still want to vote for him, not just those financially benefitting during the campaign period.
So, he is an enigma. He does not have the charisma. He is not that articulate. He does not exude statesmanship. He wants to but many can see through his appearances.
During his proclamation rally, critics said the emcee, Toni Gonzaga, was clearly bringing back images of Martial Law and Ferdinand Marcos Sr. when Bagong Lipunan was played, as though BBM had no accomplishments to speak of, no moral ground, no credentials. They want to resurrect the legacy of FM Sr. – a dictator and thief.
They simply want to bring Marcos back to power – plain and simple.
Will BBM be like his father, a dictator and thief? That’s conjecture. Will he be a good leader? We don’t know. Will he be able to tackle the post-pandemic problems of the country? Most certainly not. He is not mentally and morally equipped to do the job.
He just wants to redeem the name of his family. Regardless of who gets in the way. That’s us, including those who voted for him. Remember how Duterte chastised those who voted for him?
