FREEDOM

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) has issued a new directive suspending in-app gaming access for all BSP-supervised institutions.
Platforms like GCash have begun removing gaming options from GLife last August 16, and the only way users can access them is through the gaming merchant’s website.
Some may see this as an inconvenience. I see it as good news.
As a wealth coach, I’ve seen how gambling silently drains finances, damages relationships, and delays financial goals.
Easy access to mobile gaming makes it far too simple to spend money you can’t afford to lose. This move from the BSP removes one of the fastest ways to feed that habit.
Gambling doesn’t just take money. It steals time, peace of mind, and sometimes trust within families.
Arguments over missing funds, unpaid bills, and secret debts often start with “small” bets that grow over time. With in-app gaming now blocked, it will be harder to make impulsive deposits and easier for people to regain control over their money.
If you’ve been trying to stop gambling, take this as your fresh start. Use this break to review your spending habits, set a realistic budget, and focus on goals that build your future instead of risking it. Redirect what you used to spend on gaming into savings, investments, or family needs.
This isn’t just a policy change. It’s a chance to protect your financial health and rebuild stability at home. Sometimes, the best way to fight temptation is to remove it entirely.
Your money should work for you, not disappear into a game you can’t win
