Celebrities rank low in Tangere senatorial survey

National celebrities like actors and sportsmen ranked low in voter preference among respondents aged 51 years old and above, according to a recent survey conducted by Tangere research firm. Respondents also considered national security at the bottom of their individual concerns, more focused as they were on food and employment.  

Martin Xavier Penaflor, president and CEO,   presented the results of a nationwide survey on senatorial candidates covering the period from Nov. 6 to 9 during a media conference held November 18 at a Quezon City restaurant.

Penaflor reported that two brothers of Sen. Raffy Tulfo ranked highest in voter preference for senator.

The survey found that 64.83 percent of the respondents would vote for ACT-CIS Party-list Rep. Erwin Tulfo if the elections were held during the survey period.

Tailing him is his brother, TV host Ben Tulfo, who got 52.25 percent.

 Tied at third to fourth spot were Sen. Bong Go and former Senate president Vicente Sotto III, who received the support of 50.13 percent and 49.71 percent, respectively. 

Other senatoriables who figured in the survey include Manny Pacquiao (41.5 percent),

Panfilo Lacson (41 percent), Pia Cayetano (40. 46 percent), Abby Binay (37 percent), Benhur Abalos (33.96 percent).

Statistically tied for the last three slots in the so-called Magic 12 were Lito Lapid (31.92 percent), Bong Revilla (31.17 percent), Francis Tolentino (31.04 percent),

Ronald dela Rosa (30.83 percent), Bam Aquino (30.50 percent),  Imee Marcos (30.42 percent),  Francis Pangilinan (30.33 percent), Willie Ong (30.25 percent) and  Willie Revillame (30.08 percent). 

Tangere also reported that the top three sources of influence among the respondents are television, Facebook and radio.
