New Skyway off-ramp to NAIA T3 cuts travel time

A new Skyway off-ramp leading directly to Terminal 3 of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) was opened recently, significantly reducing travel time for air travelers.

San Miguel Corporation (SMC) Chairman and Chief Operating Officer (CEO) Ramon S. Ang was joined by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. during the official opening of the Andrews Avenue Skyway off-ramp which is expected to ease congestion on the approach to NAIA T3 by allowing vehicles to bypass a persistent bottleneck. Travel time can be reduced by as much as 25 minutes.

The new link, built by SMC’s infrastructure subsidiary, is expected to improve access to Terminal 3 ahead of the Holy Week travel peak.

Ang said traffic in the area had been causing delays of as much as 30 minutes over a one-kilometer stretch due to high vehicle density.

The project includes a 320-meter, two-lane off-ramp along Andrews Avenue in Pasay City, along with road widening works at the at-grade section near the Circulo del Mundo Rotonda.

It was completed in 12 months, ahead of the original 36-month schedule, due to close coordination among construction teams, contractors, Pasay City government, Department of Transportation and the Toll Regulatory Board.

Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon said the project forms part of the Marcos administration’s push to expand public-private partnerships for transport infrastructure.
