Sec. Dizon taps young engineers to rebuild DPWH

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Vince Dizon believes that young engineers will be crucial in restoring public trust in the department, as they attempt to recruit new civil engineers.

During a recent visit to Davao City, Dizon offered a job to newly licensed civil engineer Dave Rusty Recososa, son of jeepney driver Tatay Edwin Recososa who offered free rides after his son passed the licensure board exam.

Dizon urged Dave to join the “transformation” inside DPWH after the Secretary offered him a post at the agency’s Davao regional office. Dave is among those being hired to fill more than 2,000 DPWH vacancies across the country.

“We have a lot to do next year. We need fresh blood, new people,” Dizon told the young engineer. He also recognized Tatay Edwin’s sacrifices as a jeepney driver to support his son through school.
