Civic leader Dr. Jose Antonio Goitia came to the defense of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. after a foreign social media post mocked the Chief Executive as “low IQ,” dismissing the attack as nothing more than “desperate propaganda.”
“Let’s call it what it is—propaganda,” Goitia said. “These outsiders do not understand our history, our struggles, or our aspirations. Yet they feel entitled to insult our President and, by extension, the Filipino people. That is unacceptable.”
Goitia, chairman emeritus of several civic groups including ABKD, PADER, LIPI and the FDNY Movement, said critics abroad are blind to their own hypocrisy while attempting to discredit a leader who, in his view, has stood firm in defending the nation’s interests.
“Marcos has defended the West Philippine Sea without dragging the country into reckless wars. He has strengthened alliances without giving up sovereignty. That is leadership—calm, calculated, and always with the Filipino in mind,” he stressed.
He also dismissed accusations of economic failure, pointing to positive gains in investments, tourism, and groundwork for long-term stability. “Critics cherry-pick failures and ignore the progress. The truth is, the direction is clear—and Marcos has set us on it,” Goitia noted.
Responding to the “low IQ” insult, the civic leader countered that true intelligence is measured not by online insults but by results. “Under Marcos, the Philippines has regained international respect and a stronger voice in global affairs—that is the mark of a smart and steady leader.”
Goitia said the attacks only show that the administration is hitting nerves abroad. “They fear a Philippines that stands proud and independent. They fear a President who won’t play along with their script. That’s why they attack him.”
He concluded with a call for unity: “The Filipino people know who truly fights for them. No amount of foreign mudslinging will erase the fact that Marcos is a President working earnestly for the nation’s future.” TRACY CABRERA
