Palace awaits Torre’s response to Marcos’ job offer

Malacañang on Friday confirmed that President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has offered a new government post to former Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III and is awaiting his response.

“There is really an offer, just like what we said. And for now, there is no comment. Let’s just wait for General Torre’s positive reaction,” Palace Press Officer Claire Castro told reporters.

Marcos earlier ordered Torre’s immediate relief as PNP chief over “irreconcilable issues” with the National Police Commission. Torre, who assumed leadership in June, oversaw several high-profile operations, including the arrest of former president Rodrigo Duterte and religious leader Apollo Quiboloy.

He was also credited for introducing the five-minute response policy, directing police officers to immediately respond to emergencies.
