Pharex partners anew with Mercury Drug for annual medical mission

Pharex Health Corp., the most prescribed brand of medicines, has expressed anew its continued support for Mercury Drug’s Operation BigayLunas program, which the country’s leading drugstore has been conducting every year as part of its anniversary celebration.

As part of its inititative to promote optimum healthcare, Pharex, as one of Mercury Drug’s chosen partners in giving free medical consultations and medicines, provided high-quality drugs to program beneficiaries in underserved communities.

Pharex, which now celebrates 28 years of offering high-quality maintenance medicines to Filipinos, was assigned to select sites and distribute medicines for chronic illnesses and infections, as well as meals and manpower. This includes 10 physicians and volunteers in the check-up area.

According to Tomas Marcelo Agana III, present of Pharex HealthCorp., the company’s participation in Mercury Drug’s annual medical mission shows that organizations specializing in pharmaceutics can work together in promoting healthcare to Filipinos.

“To better serve the healthcare needs of Filipinos, different companies have to work together to broaden the scope of help,” Agana said. “This is our own way of giving back to the community and serving the public.”

Mercury Drug conducts its annual Operation BigayLunas in 70 areas, five of which are assigned to Pharex: Hagonoy town, Bulacan province; Tarlac province; San Mateo municipality, Rizal province; Naic town, Cavite province; and San Pedro City, Laguna province.

“We have adopted these communities and treated them as part of our own family, because we know that we are responsible for helping them go back to their normal lives. As a company that specializes in providing care, Pharex believes that access to medication need not be limited to only those who can afford it. Every Filipino should have high-quality medicines at home,” Agana said.

For the last couple of years, Pharex has been providing healthcare assistance to over 500 patients, mostly the elderly, toddlers and infants.

“This program is welcome to all residents from different age brackets, both sick and healthy,” Agana said. “Our goal is to ensure that everyone’s health is always at its best. That’s why we provide vitamins to the residents that they can take home with them.”

“We are very privileged to always be a part of Mercury Drug’s anniversary. We hope to continue this partnership with them as this also helps us reach more Filipinos. Hopefully, we could help improve the lives of every resident in every community,” he added.

Pharex—short for pharmaceutical excellence—is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Pascual Laboratories Inc.
