Some of the country’s most talented and fresh-faced “triple threats” from the English-language musical-theater world take center stage in a concert titled Triple Threats: The Ensemble ‘Breaking the Fourth Wall’, to be held at the Cultural Center of the Philippines’s (CCP) Tanghalang Aurelio Tolentino on Aug. 18 at 7:30 p.m.
The concert will feature musical numbers from well-loved Broadway and West End productions, including Pippin, A Chorus Line, Chicago, Rent, and Wicked. The featured performers are Chinie Concepcion, Maronne Cruz, Steven Hotchkiss, Vince Lim, Kyla Rivera, George Schulze, Abi Sulit, and Nacho Tambunting.
Special guests are Carla Guevara Laforteza, Shiela Valderrama Martinez, Jay Valencia Glorioso, Sweet Plantado Tiongson, Lani Mabilangan Ligot, Lorenz Martinez, Joaquin Pedro Valdes, and Audie Gemora.
Triple Threats is a series of concerts featuring the stalwarts of Philippine musical theater. Each concert offers an intimate evening of beautiful music. The featured songs are selected by the artists themselves from their vast repertoire of favorite tunes from Broadway, West End, original Filipino musicals, and the movies.
Dubbed as a series of “concept concerts”, the narrative of Triple Threats is dictated by the song choices. It is a rare opportunity for the audience to see a different facet of the acclaimed theater, television and film artist being featured. The definition of a “triple threat” is someone from the performing arts who exhibits the three skills necessary to excel: acting, singing and dancing.
Triple Threats: The Ensemble ‘Breaking the Fourth Wall’ is directed by two-time Philstage Gawad Buhay awardee and Aliw Award Hall of Famer for Best Actress Liesl Batucan. Ejay Yatco is musical director-arranger, while TJ Ramos is its sound designer and engineer. Lighting design is by Katsch Catoy, and set design is by Eric G. Cruz.
Tickets prices are P1,200, P1,000 and P800. There is a 20-percent discount for senior citizens and people with disabilities, and 50-percent discount for students (regular seats only).
