Typhoon Lawin damage to infra placed at P870M

The Department of Public Works and Highways place the partial damaged to infrastructure by typhoon Lawin in Central and Northern Luzon at P870.222 million. 

In a report submitted to DPWH Secretary Mark Villar by Dominador P. Aquino, of the DPWH Safety and Disaster Management Coordination Division, it was disclosed that damage to roads was placed at P272.622 million, bridges at P144 million and flood control at P453.6 million in Regions 1, II, III and the Cordillera Administrative Region.

Sixteen road sections are closed to traffic; 13 in CAR, one in Region I and two in Region II due to damaged bridges, washed out bailey bridge, high water level, road slips, damaged detour road, fallen electrical posts and trees, soil collapse and landslides.

Personnel and equipments from the four regional and district offices affected have been working round the clock installing warning signs and doing clearing operations.

Repair of bridges will commence once the site is workable, according to the report.
