Piolo Pascual pays vocal coaches from his pocket for stage musical

It is common practice among theater productions to employ or hire staff and crew to man and execute artistic tasks.

In the case of Tanghalang Una Obra, it has assigned Jed Balsamo as musical director to attend to all his areas of concerns in the stage musical “Ibarra.”

One of them is to specifically assist and monitor the developments in individual artists’ roles like rehearsals of singing the lines given them.

Piolo Pascual as Crisistomo Ibarra has to be watched over in his practice and live musical performances.

In a way, before Piolo would embark on his run throughs and final takes, vocal coaches were hired for him and  quickly came upon request.

Classical performers and pro singers couple Camille Lopez Molina and Pablo Molina wholeheartedly committed to PJ  their time and tutelage on the actor’s behalf.

Piolo can carry a melody, alright, but his humble self dictates that he, too, has to enhance his training because stage musical has its own context and discipline.

And didn’t you know that instead of the production spending for Piolo’s musical needs, he was the one who paid for them?

“Si PJ pa ang nagbayad ng vocal coaches. Grabe,” disclosed director Ariel Francisco.

“Ibarra” written by Jomar Fleras is scheduled to perform in June 8 to 18, 2023 at the GSIS Theater in Pasay City.
