BIR complaint-handling outstanding for Jan.-June 2023

Under the leadership of Commissioner Romeo D. Lumagui Jr., the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has accomplished a remarkable feat by achieving 100% Resolution and 100% Compliance Rates in handling complaints for a continuous six-month period spanning from January to June 2023. This outstanding performance is documented in a report from the Office of the President’s 8888 Citizens’ Complaint Center (8888 CCC). 

Commissioner Lumagui emphasized the BIR’s unwavering commitment to addressing all corruption and red-tape complaints. He expressed his dedication to professionalizing the BIR and instilling a culture of integrity within the organization. 

During this period, the BIR received a total of 734 citizens’ concerns, all of which were promptly addressed, resolved, and closed within the mandated 72-hour compliance period.

These achievements signify a resounding success, with a “compliance rate of 100% for adhering to the 72-hour compliance period and a 100% resolution rate for all concerns referred within this timeframe.” 

Director Bernadette B. Casinabe, Head of the 8888 Citizens’ Complaint Center, expressed anticipation for the continued collaboration in the battle against red tape and corruption. She also acknowledged the positive impact on enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of government service delivery.
