Film lovers can now watch award-winning films from past editions of the Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival for free until April 2016 as part of the Cultural Center of the Philippines’ (CCP) Arthouse Cinema program, the cultural institution announced recently.
In a statement, the CCP said its “Cinemalaya Presents…” series, launched with the screening of Endo and Ligo na U, Lapit na Me on September 24, will be held on “the second and last Thursdays of each month at 1 at 4 p.m. at the Tanghalang Manuel Conde (CCP Dream Theater),” named after the director-star of Genghis Khan.
It explained that the program “allows audiences to engage with local and international art films and their makers through screenings, talkbacks, special events and other film-related activities.”
For this year, the CCP will show Busong and K’na, the Dreamweaver on October 8; Ang Pagdadalaga ni Maximo Oliveros and Quick Change on October 29; Niño and REquieme! on November 26; and Jay and Sampaguita on December 10.
The films to be screened next year are Dinig Sana Kita and The Animals on January 14; Boses and Gulong on January 28; Amok and Tribu on February 11; Ang Sayaw ng Dalawang Kaliwang Paa and Tulad ng Dati on February 18; Ang Babae sa Septic Tank and Kamera Obskura on March 10; ICU Bed #7 and 100 on March 31; Colorum and Transit on April 14; and Brutus and Batad: Sa Paang Palay on April 28.
Also, the CCP Arthouse Cinema will offer the following series until next year: World Cinema series, National Artists series, Pinoy Animation, Ika-28 Gawad CCP Para sa Alternatibong Pelikula at Video, 12th Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival and Competition and Met Opera in HD. TMM
