The Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) recently opened a free parking facility at its Legarda Station to encourage vehicle owners to use public transportation.
The free parking is available for LRT-2 passengers from 4 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. on a first-come, first-served basis, complementing LRTA’s first free parking facility at Santolan Station opened last April 21.
To use the service, passengers should get a parking stub from LRTA security personnel at the parking area and have it validated at the Passenger Assistance Office upon arrival at their destination station.
Drivers should present the validated stub to security personnel when exiting. They are reminded to park only at designated spaces, keep vehicles locked and avoid leaving valuables inside.
Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez said the program is also designed to ease traffic, help vehicle owners save on fuel and reduce overall transportation costs and travel time for daily commuters.
“This free parking fee is a big help because our passengers will really save money instead of consuming gasoline or diesel, and their journey to their destination will also be faster,” Lopez said.
