ROY Laudit and Maricar Camacho emerged as the top finishers in the 16K division of The Great UP Run, which drew around 10,000 participants at the University of the Philippines Diliman campus over the weekend
Laudit led the men’s race in 54 minutes and 53 seconds, finishing ahead of Joel Orogan, who clocked 56:00 for second place, and Mark Anthony Oximar, who timed 58:35 for third
Camacho topped the women’s 16K in one hour, 10 minutes and 13 seconds in the women’s division.
Maria Corinne Elizabeth Caymo placed second in 1:27:25, while Angelie Rose Lumba finished third in 1:32:10.
A project of RUNRIO in partnership with the UP Office for Athletics and Sports Development (OASD) and the Office of the Vice President for Community Affairs (OVCCA), the event brought together UP alumni, students, faculty, staff and supporters from different generations, highlighting the spirit of unity within the UP community.
Race organizer RUNRIO also turned over P1 million to the OASD to support the university’s athletics programs and student-athletes. UP President Angelo Jimenez received the donation on behalf of the university.
The Great UP Run was supported by Cristalino as official hydration partner, B’lue as flavored vitamin water partner and Pocari as ion supply drink partner. CDO, Sogo and University Hotel served as major sponsors.
“The Great UP Run is one of the events that I just couldn’t miss,” said RUNRIO president Rio de la Cruz, also an alumnus of the University.
“It is one of the first races that our company organized back in 2007 and it’s a race that has endured and also got bigger through the years.”
