DigiPlus Foundation reinforced its commitment to supporting communities in times of crisis, extending humanitarian assistance to more than 24,000 Filipinos affected by the southwest monsoon, or Habagat, through five relief operations conducted across Metro Manila, Pangasinan, Pampanga, and Bulacan from August 27 to September 22.
Through its BayanihanPlus program, the Foundation mobilized relief assistance for communities affected by prolonged rains and flooding in four major flooded zone areas in Luzon, distributing essential supplies such as rice, drinking water, and other basic necessities to help families address their immediate needs.
Across the five operations, DigiPlus Foundation distributed a total of 3,500 relief packs and extended assistance to 1600 rice packs to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), reaching a reported total of more than 20,000 Filipinos.
The operations were carried out in coordination with DSWD, NGO partners, and designated local government units per municipality, supporting the delivery of assistance to affected communities.
Sustaining Assistance Where It Is Needed
For many Filipinos who depend on daily earnings, prolonged rains and flooding can disrupt livelihoods and place additional pressure on household needs.
Among those affected was Tatay Nelson, who recalled having little choice but to remain at home during the Habagat as severe weather disrupted his daily life.
His experience reflects the challenges faced by families whose ability to earn a living and access essential supplies is affected by prolonged periods of heavy rain.
By extending its relief operations across multiple locations, DigiPlus Foundation sought to address immediate needs while supporting communities as they begin to recover from the effects of the severe weather.
“This response reflects our commitment to standing with Filipino communities when they need support. Every family represents an opportunity to ease an immediate burden, and every relief operation reminds us of what we can accomplish when we work together with a shared purpose,” said Angela Camins-Wieneke, Executive Director of DigiPlus Foundation.
Continuing the Spirit of Bayanihan
The relief efforts form part of DigiPlus Foundation’s broader commitment to community resilience through BayanihanPlus, one of its four core programs.
As the corporate social responsibility arm of DigiPlus Interactive Corporation, the Foundation advances the group’s commitment to creating meaningful social impact, with support from its wider community and brands, including BingoPlus, ArenaPlus, and GameZone.
Through continued coordination with government agencies and local communities, DigiPlus Foundation remains committed to supporting Filipinos beyond the immediate aftermath of disasters, helping affected families and communities move toward recovery.
