Ford Philippines is optimistic that it would sustain its growth momentum in the local market, one that’s driven by strong demand for sport utility vehicles (SUVs), it was learned recently.
In an interview during the recent 2016 Manila International Auto Show, Ford Philippines Managing Director Lance Mosley said the company’s focus this year was to continue its strong growth in the past three years. It closed 2015 with a 25-percent increase in sales.
He also said two Ford models—Everest and EcoSport—boosted the carmaker’s sales growth.
According to Mosley, sales of the six variants of Everest have reached 8,166 units, making this model the best-selling mid-sized SUV in the country.
Likewise, the EcoSport, which was introduced by the company to the Philippine market in early 2014, has sold 8,702 units. It is now Ford Philippines’s top-selling nameplate.
With the strong market reception for the two models, Ford Philippines launched during the auto show the Everest Titanium 2.2L 4×2 AT with Premium Package, and the EcoSport Black Edition.
The new Everest model is priced at P1.799 million; the EcoSport Black Edition, P998,000.
Mosley said these new variants will also contribute to the sales of Ford Philippines.
Also, Ford Philippines now has 40 dealership networks and will be adding more this year.
Figures from the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc. showed that Ford Philippines is the third best-selling car company in the country. PNA
