131 Hectares to become Cebu’s Next Biggest Lifestyle and Commercial Hub

The proverbial seas parted, making way for Metro Cebu’s shores to rise. With everything cleared by the courts, regulators, and authorities, the GlobalCity Mandaue Corporation (GMC), may now transform 131 hectares of reclaimed land into a sprawling lifestyle and commercial hub.

GMC, a Filipino-owned real estate development corporation, led the ₱20-billion initiative in Mandaue City, laying the foundation for a world-class waterfront city aimed to drive economic development across Central Visayas.

The project is a public‑private partnership between GMC, the Mandaue City Government, and the Philippine Reclamation Authority (PRA), with strong support from the Cebu provincial government.

The project is designed to elevate the city and will feature three well-defined districts: Civic, Commercial, and Waterfront Luxury.

The site is strategically positioned near Mactan–Cebu International Airport, is straddling vital ferry routes between adjacent islands, and is connected to vital infrastructure such as the Cebu Coastal Road and the 4th Cebu–Mactan Bridge. These offer crucial transportation access to the property for Mandaue and the greater Metro Cebu region.

“Our vision for Mandaue is to establish a completely walkable, bikeable, and pedestrian-accessible city,” said Sheila B. Romero, CEO and President of GMC.

Mandaue City is designated as one of three highly urbanized cities in Central Visayas, firmly solidified with its reputation as the region’s industrial powerhouse. Hosting approximately 10,000 industrial and commercial locators, Mandaue is a linchpin for Cebu’s export economy with 40% of the province’s exporting firms accounted for by the city.

“Filipinos from all over the country will be able to reach it by land, air, and sea through a state-of-the-art multi-modal terminal. This project will position Mandaue—and Metro Cebu—as a regional hub capable of rivaling top cities around the world.” Romero concluded.
