Filipino bantamweight champions Nonito Donaire (who holds the WBC belt) and John Riel Casimero (WBO belt) are set to face off for an all-Filipino mega unification bout on August 14 with the venue still to be determined.
The 38-year-old Donaire said they already started a training camp in preparation for ‘Belt #2’.
Donaire took the WBC bantamweight belt last May by knocking out Frenchman Nordine Oubaali, bringing his record to 41-6 with 27 knockouts while Casimero (30-4, 21 KOs) defeated Ghanaian Duke Micah last September. Casimero was supposed to fight regular WBA champion Guillermo Rigondeaux but was scrapped to pave the way for the all-Filipino bout.
