“From My Roots”: An art exhibit to refresh one’s mind

In this roller-coaster ride of a life in the city and elsewhere propelled not only by COVID-19 pandemic but by noise pollution as well, smelling the flowers, listening to lullaby and looking at artworks are ways that surely refresh one’s mind.

To achieve at least one of them, make sure to pay ARTablado at Level 3 Veranda of Robinsons Galleria a visit from February 16-28, 2022 to ease up one’s tired body and soul by sighting cool and pleasing strokes of images in idyll settings.

“From My Roots,” an art exhibit spearheaded by visual artists from Quezon Province, showcases refreshing sights and local color of the countryside. According to Tres Roman, a painter from Lopez, the show isn’t only a promotion of his province but an invitation to explore the many scenic wonders the region can offer through the arts. “I was invited by Joel Reglos, an artist from Calauag who initiated and organized the exhibition,” informed Tres, a multitalented artist who has done several solo and group art shows in the past.

Roman is displaying his masterpiece, “Love, Luck and Loyalty” in acrylic.

“From My Roots” is a transition and a transformation mode of ten Quezonian artists from their baptism of fire in handling easel and canvas, paint brush and palette etc. to their sovereign management of the art space.

In overview, an adage was quoted to embody the vision of the artists while showing the beauty of nature in Quezon (fresh air, lush greenery and folks with kindred spirit)—“You must first be grounded before you can soar.”

In the process, the 10 Quezonian visual artists have already founded their wizardry in craftsmanship from being beginners as eaglets learning to flap their wings and like eagles, can now fly high.

Aside from Reglos and Roman, the eight other featured artists in “From My Roots” are Nelle Amador, Jake Alano, Tristan Bamba, Avie Lafuente, Melo Valencia, Frank Hari, Glenmore Lawig and Raffa Dala.
