Dingdong Dantes’ pays tribute to her mom, votes for a mother

In a heartfelt tribute to mothers on Mother’s Day yesterday, actor Dingdong Dantes declared that he would vote for one today, elections day.

“Sa inyo po ang aking buong pagpupugay…ang aking paghanga, ang aking serbisyo, ang aking boto (My sincere salute to you…my admiration, my service, my vote,” Dingdong said in a video message where he expressed love and admiration for his mother, Angeline Gonzalez Dantes.

“Tulad ninyong lahat, mahal ko ang Nanay ko. Pero hindi ko lubos matukoy kung bakit, hanggang masaksihan ko mismo sa asawa ko (Like all of you, I love my Mom. But I can’t pinpoint why until I witness it on my wife),” he said.

In the video, Dingdong enumerated the virtues of a good mother—from protecting their children from any harm to putting their welfare ahead of herself.

“Kay tapang talaga ng mga Nanay. Handang makipaglaban, iharang sa peligro ang sariling katawan, makipagsapalaran, ipagpaliban ang sariling kapakanan. Walang aatrasan. Walang hamong sinusukuan. Ibang klaseng magmahal. Radikal! (Mothers are indeed courageous. Ready to fight, to sacrifice themselves against things, people and events harmful to her kids and to take the backseat for the sake of her children. They don’t back off from all hurdles, love differently. Radical!” he exclaimed.

He also called mothers as “miracle workers” for their ability to make ends meet despite having a meager budget.

“Lahat ng sakit, naiinda. Pagkaing isusubo na lang, ibibigay pa sa mga anak niya. Prayoridad niyang umangat ang buhay ng mga mahal niya (Mothers bear all pains. Food meant for her she feeds her kids instead. Her priority is the enhancement of the life of her loved ones),” Dingdong quipped.

While the actor considers mothers “light of the house,” he added that they also deserve to be called “pillar of the house” for doing more than they can for their family. 

“Inspirasyon namin siya para patuloy na maging mabuti at gumawa ng mabuti. Kaya buung-buo kong itataya sa pangangalaga niya ang mga pangarap ko para sa aking mga anak, para sa aming pamilya (She is our inspiration to do good and be good. That’s why I totally entrust in her care my dreams for our children and family,” he explained. 

“Sana lahat tayo, ipagdiwang pang lalo ang mga ina. Dahil alam nating lahat na totoong dakila sila (I hope all of us celebrate all our mothers because we believe they are truly great),” he added. 

Dantes supported Leni Robredo’s vice presidential run in 2016.
