FEU coach Salak to step down

Far Eastern University and women’s volleyball head coach Tina Salak are parting ways.

Salak, who is best remembered for steering the Lady Tamaraws to a fifth place finish in the recently-concluded UAAP women’s volleyball tournament, decided to step down to pursue greener pastures “Coach Tina will soon migrate to the USA as her immigrant visa application recently got approved,” the FEU Athletics office posted through its social media page “But she will remain with the team as consultant while she plans her move to the US,” the statement added.

FEU also announced the appointment of Coach Manolo Refugia as interim coach.

Refugia will handle the Lady Tamaraws on an interim basis in the V-League Collegiate Challenge scheduled later this year. 

“Let’s all wish the best for Coach Tina as she moves on to this new phase of her life,” FEU Athetics office added.

The Lady Tamaraws will also lose Season 85 Best Opposite Spiker Jov Fernandez, who recently turned pro.

Fernandez will suit up for F2 Logistics in the Premier Volleyball League Invitational Conference starting July 27.
