Top global energy management firm expanding logistics hub in Philippines

Schneider Electric, a renowned global leader in energy management and automation, is set to bolster its logistics hub in Cavite, affirming its strong commitment to and continued expansion in logistics services, manufacturing, and high-value services within the Philippines.

This move follows a high-level meeting held with Trade Secretary Fred Pascual in Paris, France during the 10th Philippines-France Joint Economic Committee Meeting last June.

The expansion initiative, valued at €1.4 million, has received approval from Schneider Electric’s top management. The company has been active in the Philippines for 26

years, employing 3,375 Filipino workers. Currently, Schneider Electric’s operations in the country serve nine nations, with an annual throughput value of €1 billion.

Representatives from the Board of Investments (BOI) recently convened with Schneider Electric officials at their Taguig office to discuss the expansion plan. Part of the company’s sustainability efforts in the Philippines is to transition 50% of inter-site trucks to electric vehicles (EV) and deploy EV trucks for 20% of last-mile deliveries as part of their Net-Zero Roadmap, which they aim to achieve by 2030.

In addition to their manufacturing endeavors, Schneider Electric has expanded its Analytics for Schneider Electric Global Hub located in Taguig City, which necessitates higher-value services and AI-assisted platforms. This project will employ 80 Filipino data analysts.

Notably, the Philippines serves as one of the four Global Hubs for the company, providing technical, analytics, financial planning and accounting, and sales support to 154 countries and accommodating 23 languages.

Ejie-Tauto-An, Logistics Director, APC by Schneider, stated, “Schneider Electric’s business continually evolves to ensure growth and increased resilience. An integral part of our growth strategy involves the ongoing strengthening of the organization’s global services based in the Philippines. This expansion underscores the company’s goal of further enhancing our global presence and capabilities to support progress across diverse markets worldwide. We are genuinely appreciative of the support extended to our company by BOI as we embark on this significant business expansion.”

Schneider Electric, a global leader in digital automation and energy management, secured the top position on Gartner’s 2023 list of the best supply chains, thanks to its 10% reduction in carbon emissions, a pivotal factor in advancing Schneider Electric’s own supply chain sustainability. The company also ranked 7th on Corporate Knight’s 2023 Global 100 list of Most Sustainable Corporations and operates in the realms of energy management, industrial automation, central functions, and digital solutions.

Founded in France, Schneider Electric initiated its presence in the Philippines in 1995 by manufacturing UPS, power surge, backup UPS, and smart UPS systems. In 2019, the company transformed its existing manufacturing facility in Rosario, Cavite, into a smart factory. This transition enables operational excellence through the Ecostruxure Platform, optimizing end-to-end efficiency, promoting agile management, and ensuring effective asset management, data security monitoring, and insights tracking.

Furthermore, Schneider Electric introduced APC Philippines as its flagship brand, offering clean battery backup power, surge protection, and IT physical infrastructure solutions both inside and outside traditional IT environments. Its facility in the Cavite Economic Zone manufactures UPS systems, power surge protectors, backup UPS units, and smart UPS products.
