PHL joins list of most aesthetic passports in the world

The Philippine passport earned global recognition for its unique design, landing a spot on Hypebeast’s list of the world’s most aesthetic passports.

Hypebeast – a contemporary culture and lifestyle company – praised the passport’s “iconic Philippine eagle” design, which is printed on its flip cover. The eagle symbolizes strength and freedom, making it a fitting emblem for Filipino travelers.

“After Switzerland unveiled its newly designed passport, we rounded up some of the best-designed passports from around the world. From Norway’s UV-reactive landscapes to Japan’s ukiyo-e art, the Philippines’ iconic Philippine eagle, New Zealand’s sleek black cover, and more — these passports set the bar for design,” the post read.

The Philippines was recognized for its passport’s design alongside those from Norway, Canada, Hong Kong, Japan, Finland, New Zealand, Hungary and Belgium.

Despite its aesthetic appeal, the Philippine passport’s global mobility is limited. The Henley Passport Index currently ranks it 75th. As of July 2024, Filipino passport holders enjoy visa-free travel to 67 countries.

Singapore’s passport continues to be the most powerful globally, allowing citizens visa-free entry to 194 destinations.
