Short of three days before the traditional 40th day observance of the death of a person, ardent fans of Superstar and National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts Nora Aunor celebrated posthumously the birthday of the actress at the Walk of Fame marker at Eastwood City.
The “bulilit (small)” NA was made bigger once more by her fans no matter she’s gone.
It was Noramania all over again as avid fans from all walks of life from various parts of the country congregated and offered flowers, songs and dances, prayers to the soul of their dear departed idol.
Marie Cusi, one of the Noranian organizers of the event said that they wouldn’t forget the legacy of Nora Aunor.
“Lagi siyang buhay sa aming alaala (She will always be alive in our memories),” said Marie, a professional corporate boss.
Nora’s memorial birthday was complete with a karakol (a religious procession with a vibrant street dancing) and visits of her loved ones, like actor John Rendez and movie reporters like Rodel Fernando, Mildred Bacud, Erickson de la Cruz, Fernan de Guzman and Boy Romero.
After the floral offering at the star marker of La Aunor, the fans attended the holy mass at the Pope John Paul II Parish inside Eastwood.
A fellowship gathering followed with guest singer Adrian Panganiban, Howard Yambao, Honey Alipio and other celebrities.
Meanwhile, at Gateway Cinema, a special screening of “Faney,” a film which forays into the devotion of fans to Nora Aunor was held at the same time Noranians at Walk of Fame hailed and sang their hearts out to Ate (a term of endearment to an elder woman by affinity or sister by blood) Guy.
