Virgin Labfest announces writing fellows for 2025

Every year, the Virgin Labfest Writing Fellowship Program (VLF WFP) calls for aspiring playwrights who are brave enough to learn the best from the best. While the VLF prides itself on presenting the untried, untested, and unstaged plays it produces annually, its accompanying Writing Fellowship Program looks for fellows who are just as untried, untested, and unstaged.

In line with the festival’s mandate, the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) and the Virgin Labfest XX Writing Fellowship Program after intensive deliberation announce the eight (8) budding playwrights, namely Ace Abu, Aldrine Anzures, Princess Joy Buenafe, Mark Joseph Briones, Laurence Miguel De Vera. Maleah Rae Frange, Bradley Jason Pantajo and Qashrina Musa, who have been chosen amongst many applicants to be trained from June 17 to 29, 2025.

The two-week program, to be held both online and onsite at the CCP Complex from June 17 to 29, 2025, will conclude with a stage reading of the Writing Fellows’ works at the Bulwagang Roberto Chabet (3/F Tanghalang Ignacio Gimenez) on June 29, 2025, at 5:00 PM.

The VLF XX WFP is an intensive two-week mentorship initiative on the study and practice of dramatic writing for the stage. Under the guidance of multi-awarded playwright Glenn Sevilla Mas, the program offers a platform for selected writing fellows to engage in lectures, workshops, and discussions on playwriting and script critiquing.
