Before haute couture legend Albert Figueras celebrates his forty years in the fashion and entertainment industry this year, he was offered a stint in a runway event by impresario Nardie Presa Montoya at the Crowne Plaza in Ortigas Avenue.
Albert, no matter how he was in the company of a bevy of new fashion designers, stood out among them in “Fashion Forte XXIV” last Thursday.
Figueras was a crowd-drawer on the ramp where he conceptualized a fusion of the classic and Latin temperament in sartorial realism.
The predominant color was red and the Latin beat of flamenco was in the air that matched the professional bearing and slaying of his mannequins in the catwalk.
Albert’s portion was a showcase of versatility, elegance and practicality.
“Ibunuhos ko na talaga lahat. Handa na ako (I really poured in my best. I am now ready) for my big show to celebrate my forty years in the fashion scene and in the health and wellness field,” declared Albert.
Most of his colleagues in the fashion world as well as family members and personal friends were there.
Most of them promised to support Figueras in his next show.
Elder sister Malou and her husband came all the way from the US to join the star-studded gig of their kin.
Fellow veteran and exceptional designers like Renee Salud, Albert Andrada, Jan Garcia, Erick Valena, La Presa, among others, were behind him to lend spiritual boosting and inspirational backing.
Members of the entertainment press like Art Tapalla and Wil Provinio were around to interpret and write about his fashion act.
Ma’am Isabelita Erandio Valena, mom of Erick and young student Jeff added dimension to Albert’s experiences on the ramp.
Iris Ang, wife of the controversial sports magnate Atong Ang gave Figueras the necessary moral boosts.
Iris and Albert’s friendship has gone a long way.
Days before the event, Albert said Atong might come to the show but the program got through without seeing him.
“Busy ‘t (He’s busy with a lot of things),” defended the iconic fashion guru.
The night was indeed favorable to Albert’s prep up to his next big catwalk extravaganza. (Boy Villasanta)
