The Land Transportation Office (LTO) is boosting its nationwide license plate distribution, aiming to release up to 25,000 plates daily by hiring more specialists and streamlining its process.
LTO chief Assistant Secretary Vigor Mendoza II said 20 additional workers have been hired in line with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to speed up distribution. This brings the total workforce for plate dispatch to 52, up from the previous manpower that averaged only 8,000 to 10,000 plates a day.
With the reinforcements, output is expected to jump by 13,000 to 15,000 plates daily from the LTO’s plate-making plant and courier hub. New hires were screened for computer skills and fast verification capabilities to ensure efficiency.
Mendoza assured motorists that the plate backlog has been cleared and vowed to deliver all remaining plates “in the soonest possible time.” The LTO has been improving its distribution system through partnerships with tricycle operators, local governments, and plate distribution caravans at major malls.
“I am thankful to everyone in the LTO, from the central office to district offices. With this teamwork, I’m confident we will get the job done,” Mendoza said.
